Bet nekavēšu jūsu laiku, tikai izstāstīšu vienu piemēru no Polijas. Viņiem ir kašūbi, kas ir reģionāla identitāte, un kašūbi paši ir izstrādājuši veselu gradāciju, kā kašūbs tiek noteikts... respektīvi, vai cilvēks ir vai nav kašūbs. Pirmais nopietnākais kritērijs: viņš ir dzimis šajā reģionā, droši vien viņam ir asinsradniecība ar kādu no kašūbu tautas pārstāvjiem, viņš prot kašūbu valodu un ir lojāls kašūbu reģionam. Nākamais ir nedaudz mazāku kritēriju līmenis: varbūt viņš nav dzimis šajā reģionā, bet tomēr prot šo valodu, respektīvi, pieder kultūrtelpai un ir lojāls šim reģionam. Un pats pēdējais līmenis ir tāds, ka faktiski šis cilvēks varbūt nav dzimis šajā reģionā, varbūt viņam nav nekādas asinsradniecības, varbūt viņš pat neprot valodu, bet viņš ir lojāls šim reģionam. Un kašūbi uzskata: tad viņš var būt par... var saukt sevi par kašūbu. Līdz ar to man šķiet, ka visa šī jezga par to, kas var saukt sevi par latvieti, kas nevar saukt sevi par latvieti, man šķiet, ir lieka. (Dep.
