Latvijai kā demokrātiskai un tiesiskai valstij ir skaidri jāpaziņo - šāds tiesiskuma farss nav un netiks pieņemts starptautiskajā sabiedrībā. Latvijai ir jāpauž stingrs un ass nosodījums par Savčenko pretlikumīgo arestu un notiesāšanu. Ja klusi noraudzīsimies un nepaudīsim savu viedokli, mēs paudīsim atbalstu autoritāra režīma visatļautībai. Ja klusēsim, mēs piekritīsim Kremlim, ka cilvēktiesību un starptautisko likumu pārkāpšana ir norma. Mūsu valstij ne vien kā ANO Cilvēktiesību padomes dalībvalstij, bet arī kā demokrātiskai valstij un starptautiskās sabiedrības daļai ir jāpievienojas tām valstīm un organizācijām, kuras aicina Krieviju nekavējoties atbrīvot Savčenko un atgriezties pie sistēmas, kurā tiek aizsargātas cilvēktiesības, nevis režīma intereses. Vienīgais veids, kā nodrošināt taisnīgumu gan upuriem, gan apsūdzētajiem, ir pilnīga un objektīva izmeklēšana un no politiskās iejaukšanās brīva lietas izskatīšana, ievērojot starptautiskos taisnīgas tiesas standartus. Krievija šos priekšnoteikumus nav izpildījusi. Aicinu jūs, kolēģi, atcerēties, uz kādiem principiem ir būvēta Latvijas valsts un kāda ir mūsu loma un atbildība starptautiskajā sabiedrībā, un atbalstīt iniciatīvu par nosodījuma izteikšanu Krievijai, aicinot nekavējoties atbrīvot Savčenko - Ukrainas likumīgi ievēlētu amatpersonu un Krievijas politieslodzīto.
