Šodien Saeima noslēdza darbu pie likumprojektiem, kuri paredz nodot biedrībai “Latvijas Ebreju draudžu un kopienu padome” trīs nekustamos īpašumus Rīgā un pa vienam – Jūrmalā un Kandavā. Īpašumi tiek nodoti biedrībai, lai Latvijas ebreju draudzēm un biedrībām mazinātu vēsturiskās netaisnīgās sekas, kuras tām radušās nacistiskā totalitārā režīma veiktā holokausta un komunistiskā totalitārā režīma darbības rezultātā mūsu valsts teritorijā. Ārlietu komisija šo jautājumu izskatīja veselu gadu. Mēs rīkojām sešas sēdes. Šajās sēdēs mēs tikāmies ar juristiem no Saeimas... ar juristu pārstāvjiem, ar Valsts prezidenta kancelejas juristiem un arī ar Ārlietu ministrijas juristiem. Mēs aicinājām arī visu Latvijas ebreju kopienu pārstāvjus, lai nāk un izsaka savu viedokli. Rīkojām tikšanos ar ebreju kopienu un draudžu pārstāvjiem, taču gada laikā vienīgā cita ebreju organizācija, kas pieteicās uz šīm sēdēm, bija biedrība “Šamir”. Apciemojām arī Rīgas Geto muzeju. Un konstatējām pirmām kārtām to, ka biedrība “Šamir” kādreiz ir bijusi Latvijas Ebreju draudžu un kopienu padomes valdē, bet izstājusies no tās. Taču tai ir tiesības atkal iestāties. Tiekoties ar Latvijas Ebreju draudžu un kopienu padomes pārstāvjiem, mēs sapratām arī to, ka jebkurā laikā nākotnē viņi izveidos fondu un ka arī biedrība “Šamir” varēs pieteikties uz projektiem uz šo fondu. Šajā sakarā ir vērts atgādināt, ka pagājušogad šī Saeima pieņēma... budžetā piešķīra 55 000 eiro biedrībai “Šamir” un Rīgas Geto muzejam. Līdz ar to ir ļoti skaidrs, ka Rīgas... Latvijas Ebreju un draudžu kopienu padome pārstāv lielāko vairumu ebreju Latvijā; neviena cita pretendenta nebija. Un arī biedrība “Šamir” ir saņēmusi atbalstu no valsts. Šajā sakarā ir vērts atgādināt arī to, ka pirms Otrā pasaules kara šie zemes gabali un ēkas bija ebreju sabiedriskās un reliģiskās organizācijas īpašumā. Kandavā un Jūrmalā esošajos nekustamajos īpašumos pirms kara atradās sinagoga, un šajā sakarā ir vērts pieminēt, ka Kandavā šis ir tikai tīri simbolisks gājiens, jo tūlīt pēc vienošanās starp ebreju kopienu un Kandavu ebreju kopiena atdos šo īpašumu atpakaļ Kandavai – ar vienošanos, ka tur būs simboliska plāksne, kura vēstīs, ka tur bija sinagoga. Rīgā viens no īpašumiem piederēja Ebreju sieviešu slimnīcas slimo kopšanas biedrībai, bet pārējie saistīti ar izglītības biedrībām. Tāpat komisija galīgajam lasījumam apstiprināja grozījumus, kuri noņem iepriekš noteiktos apgrūtinājumus – aizliegumu atsavināt vai ieķīlāt nekustamo īpašumu – sabiedriskās organizācijas “Rīgas Ebreju kopiena” īpašumā jau nodotajam zemes gabalam Skolas ielā Rīgā. Grozījumi atceļ arī nosacījumu, ka īpašums ir nododams atpakaļ valstij, ja biedrība beidz pastāvēt. Ir vērts atgādināt, ka šī vēsturiskā ēka Skolas ielā tika uzcelta jau 1913.gadā. To uzcēla Latvijas ebreju kopiena, un Latvijas neatkarības gados līdz okupācijai tas bija ebreju kopienu centrs. Jā, tas tika atņemts ebreju kopienai padomju okupācijas laikā un nacistu Vācijas okupācijas laikā, bet tagad tas ir atgriezies atpakaļ vēsturiskajās rokās. Tā ka, manuprāt, šodien Saeima spēra ļoti svarīgu soli, lai mazinātu vēsturiskās netaisnīgās sekas Latvijas ebrejiem. Tas bija politisks lēmums un labas gribas žests, kas dara godu Latvijai un kas tiks ļoti augstu novērtēts arī ārpus Latvijas. Paldies.".
