Bet laikam vajadzētu pateikt, kuras no tām prasībām, ko izvirza Lielbritānija, tām pretenzijām, kas izvirzītas Eiropas Komisijai, tām prasībām, ko Lielbritānija formulē, tātad kuras no tām ir atbalstāmas no Latvijas puses ar abām rokām, kuras ir atbalstāmas ar vienu roku un kuras ir noraidāmas? Kur mēs stāvēsim kā klints, lai saglabātu Eiropas Savienības vienotību? Otrs jautājums. Ir runa par to, lai paplašinātu bezvīzu režīma ieviešanu ar citām valstīm. Vai tas ir vienīgais līdzeklis, kā iziet no tās krīzes, ko pārdzīvo Šengenas zona visā, kas saistīts ar bēgļu problēmām un citām lietām? Varbūt ir arī citas receptes? Teiksim, vīzu piešķiršanas atvieglotais režīms vai citi mēģinājumi risināt šo lietu. Trešais jautājums, kas, dabiski, nav šā gada jautājums, bet ir šā gada procesa jautājums, – tas ir Eiropas Savienības paplašināšanas jautājums. Jau tagad, kā zināms, Eiropā eksistē divas valstu grupas ar diviem attīstības ātrumiem. Paplašināšanas gadījumā pievienosies trešā grupa ar trešo ātrumu. Kā to ir gatavs un spējīgs izturēt Eiropas Savienības budžets? Kā mēs paši esam gatavi vai neesam gatavi samierināties ar to, ka, teiksim, tie paši fondi, kas nāk no Eiropas Savienības, drusku saruks? Bet varbūt saruks vairāk nekā drusku... Kādā mērā un kādos apjomos? Visi tie ir jautājumi, par kuriem ir ne tikai jādomā, bet jārunā un arī jārēķina. Nākamais jautājums – Transatlantiskais tirdzniecības un investīciju partnerības līgums. Mēs runājam par ģenētiski modificētām pārtikas precēm, mēs runājam par standartiem. Vai mēs runājam par eiro un dolāra kursa attiecībām un kā tās ietekmē importa un eksporta attiecības starp Eiropas Savienību un Amerikas Savienotajām Valstīm? Kā ir salīdzināmas un kā ir savienojamas Eiropas Savienības un Amerikas Savienoto Valstu nodokļu politikas lietas, kas ir ļoti atšķirīgas un kas ļoti ietekmēs arī šīs lietas, par kurām es tikko teicu? Par visām tām lietām ir jārunā pietiekami konkrēti, plānojot ārpolitiskās darbības 2016.gada kontekstā. Un pēdējais, ko es gribēju teikt noslēgumā. Viena tehniska piezīme – es jau vienreiz par to esmu runājis. Mums ir ārkārtīgi liels diplomātisks (un ne tikai) aparāts Briselē. Bet ļoti gribētos, lai tiktu pastiprināta Ārlietu ministrijas koordinējošā loma, lai mēs nesastaptos katru reizi ar to, ka parādās jauna Eiropas Savienības direktīva vai grozījumi tajā un mēs uzreiz esam spiesti steidzamības kārtā pieņemt attiecīgus grozījumus vairākos Latvijas Republikas likumos. Man šķiet, ka smagnējās procedūras, kādas pastāv Eiropas Savienībā, pieņemot pašas direktīvas un grozījumus tajās, palīdz arī laikus koordinēt un laikus pieņemt attiecīgus lēmumus. Es vēlu veiksmi Ārlietu ministrijai, arī esošajam un topošajam ārlietu ministram, lai šīs problēmas tiktu risinātas. Paldies.".
