Pa Atmodas bulvāri tūristi un pilsētas viesi dodas uz Ziemeļu molu, uz vienu no Karostas simboliem - Liepājas Svētā Nikolaja Jūras katedrāli, kā arī uz Latvijas un pasaules mēroga tūrisma objektu - Karostas cietumu. No Karostas iedzīvotājiem, kā arī pilsētas viesiem pašvaldība regulāri saņem kritiku par Atmodas bulvāra neapmierinošo stāvokli, īpaši nedrošs tas ir kājāmgājējiem un velobraucējiem. Iela nav remontēta vairākus gadu desmitus, un šobrīd tā ir vienīgā lielā nerekonstruētā iela pilsētā. Lai realizētu Atmodas bulvāra rekonstrukcijas projektu, Liepājas pilsētas dome ir veikusi tehnisku izvērtējumu un konstatējusi provizoriskās projekta izmaksas, kas sastāda 1 miljonu 560 tūkstošus eiro. Tika izvērtēta arī iespēja projekta realizācijai piesaistīt Eiropas Savienības struktūrfondu līdzekļus, diemžēl bija jāsecina, ka šāds risinājums nepastāv, jo minētā iela nav definēta kā tranzīta iela. Jāņem vērā arī tas, ka saskaņā ar teritorijas attīstības plānu šajā teritorijā ir paredzēta Nacionālo bruņoto spēku attīstības programmas realizācija. Liepājas pilsētas domes apstiprinātā investīciju programma 2015.-2020.gadam akcentē minēto prioritāti, jo Atmodas bulvāra rekonstrukcija dotu papildu iespējas. Pirmām kārtām paplašinātu Nacionālo bruņoto spēku un Jūras spēku infrastruktūru saskaņā ar Aizsardzības ministrijas attīstības koncepciju. Atmodas bulvārī atrodas tādi stratēģiski svarīgi objekti kā NBS Jūras spēku mācību centrs, NBS Jūras spēku militārā bāze, Baltijas valstu Ūdenslīdēju mācību centrs. Otrām kārtām nodrošinātu Karostas iedzīvotājiem drošu pārvietošanos uz darbu un mācību iestādēm. Un trešām kārtām - veicinātu estētiski pievilcīgu un drošu pārvietošanos tūristiem un pilsētas viesiem uz iecienītajiem tūrisma objektiem. Projekta īstenošanu ir plānots sadalīt kārtās. Pirmā kārta - 2016.gadā - Atmodas bulvāra rekonstrukcija posmā no Kalpaka tilta līdz Turaidas ielai. Realizācijai nepieciešami 360 tūkstoši eiro. Otrā kārta - 2017.gadā - Atmodas bulvāra rekonstrukcija posmā no Turaidas ielas līdz Piestātnes ielai. Realizācijai nepieciešams 1 miljons 200 tūkstoši eiro. Ņemot vērā minēto, lūdzu atbalstīt Liepājas pilsētas sagatavoto projektu Atmodas bulvāra rekonstrukcijai, tā realizācijas pirmajai kārtai 2016.gadā no valsts budžeta novirzot 360 tūkstošus eiro.
