Izskatīšanas laikā es jau diskutēju gan ar kolēģiem no ZZS - Latvijas Zaļās partijas biedriem -, gan ar dažādiem zaļāk domājošiem sabiedrisko organizāciju pārstāvjiem, un šoreiz mans pilsoņa pienākums liek kolēģus Saeimā brīdināt un teikt, ka šie Aizsargjoslu likuma grozījumi pat nav akceptēti Pasaules Dabas fondā, kas ir vispārstāvošākā, visreprezentējošākā sabiedriskā organizācija, kura pārstāv dabas aizsardzību. Es īsti nesaprotu, kāds naids latviešos ir pret baltalksni. Tā ir kultūra, kuru, es atceros, padomju laikos stipri ienīda, jo tā pārņēma labākās lauksaimniecības zemes... Bet aizsargjoslās mazo upju krastos - tas vēl ir palicis daļēji neskarts latviešu tautas, nācijas īpašums! - mēs gribam atļaut kailcirtes - papildus tam, ka ir vējgāzes, snieglauzes un ka jau šobrīd ir atļauts ārkārtas situācijās veikt kailcirtes. Bet šoreiz mēs gribam ar likuma grozījumiem atļaut kailcirtes viena hektāra platībā 50 metru joslā. Turklāt šobrīd jau kailcirtes vairs neveic ar rokām; strādā galvenokārt lieljaudas tehnika. Un, braucot katru rītu uz darbu, es jau redzu Lojupes krastos, kur ir strādāts, un tas gan ir nedaudz tālāk par 50 metriem, tā it kā nav aizsargjosla... es redzu, kādi šie krasti ir. Es dzīvoju Braslas upes krastā - netālu. Es varu iedomāties, ka tur atļaus... Šie likuma grozījumi stāsies spēkā. Tie ir pilnīgi vērsti uz lielo mežsaimnieku, mežu apsaimniekotāju interešu aizstāvību. Runājot konkrētāk par priekšlikumu, jāteic, ka mēs šeit paredzam saglabāt ozolus, liepas, vīksnas, gobas, kļavas, priedes, melnalkšņus, vītolus un mežābeles, bet neparedzam saglabāt, piemēram, egles, bērzus, ošus, apses. Manā skatījumā... Es esmu mācījies lauksaimniecību; es nezinu, ar ko vīksna vai vītols ir vērtīgāks par bērzu, osi, apsi. Ja mēs gatavojam priekšlikumus, tad saglabājam arī lietkokus, tādus kā, piemēram, bērzs, kas mūsu tautsaimniecībai ir ļoti nozīmīgs koks. Tā ka, cienītie kolēģi, es aicinu izsvērt šodienas balsojumu un aicinu Saeimas kārtības ruļļa 113.panta kārtībā nodot likumprojektu atkārtotai izskatīšanai Tautsaimniecības, agrārās, vides un reģionālās politikas komisijā un pieaicināt vismaz Pasaules Dabas fondu, un iegūt saskaņojumu ar šo nevalstisko organizāciju.
