Iespējams, ka šīs normas mērķis ir bijis pateikt, ka personai vairs nav nepieciešams sociālā nodrošinājuma pabalsts tad, ja tā ir izveidojusi savu ģimeni. Diemžēl man jāsaka - daudzi uzskata, ka ģimeni var izveidot arī citādi. Ir cilvēki, kuri dzīvo kopā bez laulības noslēgšanas, un tādā veidā tie, kuri laulību noslēdz, tiek nostādīti nevienlīdzīgā un diskriminējošā situācijā salīdzinājumā ar tiem, kuri nevēlas laulību slēgt, bet dzīvo kopā tāpat. Gatavojot likumprojektu, mēs jautājām Valsts sociālas apdrošināšanas aģentūrai: cik ir šādu gadījumu, kad pabalsta izmaksa ir pārtraukta tādēļ, ka persona stājusies laulībā? Diemžēl jāteic, ka Valsts sociālās apdrošināšanas aģentūra atbildi uz šo jautājumu nevarēja sniegt. Līdz ar to mēs arī nevaram izrēķināt iespējamo likumprojekta ietekmi uz budžetu. Tomēr es uzskatu, ka šī ietekme ir vairāk simboliska - tā vairāk novērš diskriminējošo situāciju, nevis reāli ietekmē budžetu. Tāpēc, kolēģi, es lūdzu nediskriminēt jauniešus, kuriem laulība ir vērtība un kuri vēlas šo derību slēgt, un lūdzu atbalstīt iesniegto likumprojektu. Paldies.".
