Tad vajadzēja šai debatei atvērties un notikt ļoti pamatīgi, un ļoti sīki izkauties tad, nevis tagad vicināt dūres... pēc tam, kad viss jau ir noticis. Mani mulsina tas, ka mūsu valdība tik pašapzinīgi un tik pašpietiekami ir pieņēmusi lēmumu rīkoties Latvijas valsts vārdā situācijā, kas tik dziļi un būtiski, un uz ļoti ilgiem gadiem ietekmēs mūsu nācijas pastāvēšanu un attīstību. Kāpēc mēs nepaskatījāmies uz to, kā rīkojās Grieķijas valdība, kā rīkojās Ciprs šajā jautājumā, kas tik ļoti un būtiski skāra grieķus? Viņš neuzdrošinājās pieņemt lēmumu pats, no vienas puses, un, no otras puses, viņš arī nepieņēma lēmumu pats, tādēļ viņam bija nepieciešama tautas piekrišana un tautas atbalsts... Pirmkārt, es uzskatu, ka mūsu valdība rīkojās absolūti nepareizi, neļaudama šajā procesā iesaistīties Saeimai, un, otrkārt, pirmais, ko vajadzēja darīt, - bija jāpajautā tautai, kāds ir tautas viedoklis par to. Kāpēc mēs esam tik iedomīgi un augstprātīgi tautas kalpi, ka mēs izdomājam, ka mēs labāk nekā cilvēki zinām, ko viņiem vajag un kāda ir attieksme? (No zāles frakcijas VIENOTĪBA deputātu starpsaucieni.) Aptauja liecina, ka 70 procenti mūsu valsts iedzīvotāju ir pret bēgļu uzņemšanu un tikai 18 procenti ir par. Jūs maldināt cilvēkus, stāstīdami te par solidaritāti un dažādām citādām lietām, bet nerunādami par to, ar kādu problēmu masu šie cilvēki ienāks, un par to, ka mēs neesam gatavi tam. Visas šīs infekcijas, kas nāks iekšā (No zāles dep. V.Spolītis: “Kādas infekcijas?!”), visi šie teroristi, visas šīs problēmas, kas nāks iekšā! Un nevajag maldināt tautu ar to, ka mēs tagad kādu integrēsim. Mēs savu naudu un savus spēkus varam ieguldīt, lai, labākajā gadījumā, nodrošinātu mierīgu līdzāspastāvēšanu. Paskatieties uz pieredzi, kāda ir vāciešiem, ar turkiem kopā dzīvojot 40 gadus! Vācu zinātnieki un vācu sabiedrība uztraucas par to, ka vācu nācijas izdzīvošana ir apdraudēta tādos apstākļos...
