Droši vien var būt dažādi viedokļi, vai un kā Latvijai vajadzēja piedalīties šajos solidaritātes mehānismos, un arī es varbūt pievienojos tam viedoklim, ka Latvijai zināmā mērā tur piedalīties vajadzēja. Un tieši tāpat ir ļoti būtiski, kā... Nu labi, lēmums ir pieņemts par šiem 700. Vai tas ir bijis pareizs vai ne - to droši vien vēsture rādīs. Bet šobrīd ir būtiski svarīgi, lai mēs, līdzīgi kā igauņi, kuri īstenībā ir tikuši krietni tālāk šajā sagatavošanās posmā, varētu atlasīt cilvēkus, kuri patiešām ir bēgļi, un cilvēkus, kas var labāk integrēties mūsu kultūrtelpā, piemēram, kristiešus. Bet šinī brīdī runa ir jau par pieņemtu lēmumu, un arī jaunais likums, ja to pieņemtu, nekādi to vairs nevar mainīt. Taču Latvijas kapacitāte - un es domāju, ka jūs man piekritīsiet, - tomēr ir ierobežota. Un šajā situācijā mēs nezinām, kurā brīdī mums nāks nākamā kvota, un, manuprāt, ja mēs neesam tikuši galā ar šiem - un tas prasīs ilgāku laiku! -, tad uzņemties atbildību jau par nākošo kvotu - tas droši vien būtu diezgan pārsteidzīgi. Un Eiropas Savienībā arī es esmu piedalījies dažādās padomēs, tiesa gan, varbūt citās jomās, bet parlamenta lēmumam un parlamenta viedoklim ir ļoti liela nozīme, ar ko dalībvalstis rēķinās. Un tāpēc ministrs, kurš brauc aizstāvēt kādu pozīciju, ja viņam priekšā ir parlamenta viedoklis, viņš noteikti tātad visu to saprot, ka šeit neko grozīt nevar, un līdz ar to viņš ir mazāk pakļauts šim spiedienam. Un tas ir tas jautājums, ko šinī gadījumā nosaka jaunais likums. Tātad tas neatceļ... Vai tas ir labi vai slikti, par to droši vien būs dažādi viedokļi. Tas neatceļ iepriekšējo kvotu, bet tas nosaka to, ka nākošo kvotu mums tomēr “piespēlēt” būs sarežģītāk. Un arī tad, ja jums varbūt ir pat pamatoti iebildumi pret anotāciju, es domāju, ka tomēr būt “pret” šo būtību... nu, tas ir vienkārši nepareizi. Un, protams, ja kaut kāds brīdis pienāk, kad Latvija redz, ka tā ir tikusi galā un parlamenta vairākums piekrīt, ka mēs varam vēl kaut ko integrēt, tad, protams, tas tā varētu arī būt. Bet tas droši vien būs pēc daudziem gadiem. Šobrīd mēs to nevaram. Tāpēc es, līdzīgi kā Ilmārs Latkovskis, aicinu tomēr necensties izmantot šo, lai tikai veidotu savu iekšpolitiku vienam pret otru un izrādītos, kurš ir labais, kurš - sliktais. Un beigās visi ir sliktie, jo rezultāta nav! Bet, manuprāt, šāds lēmums būtu vienkārši Latvijas interesēs, un tāpēc es aicinu to atbalstīt. Paldies. (VL-TB/LNNK frakcijas aplausi.)".
