Un šīs prioritātes ietvaros tika organizēts strukturētā dialoga process, kas ietver konsultācijas ar jauniešiem par viņiem būtiskiem jautājumiem Eiropas Savienības līmenī. Un šī strukturētā dialoga ietvaros arī Latvijā norisinājās konsultācijas par to, kā veicināt jauniešu politisko līdzdalību, un jaunieši ar politikas veidotājiem diskutēja par to, ka pašvaldību vēlēšanās vēlētāju vecuma slieksnis samazināms līdz 16 gadiem. Mēs ielūdzām, aicinājām arī iesniedzējus uz šo pasākumu tepat Saeimā mēnesi atpakaļ; tur bija plašas debates par to, vai samazināt šo slieksni līdz 16 gadiem, un man ļoti žēl, ka tas rezultāts bija tāds, ka pat Latvijas Jaunatnes padome pauda noraidošu viedokli, un tas skan tā: “Neatbalstīt iniciatīvu par izmaiņu veikšanu Latvijas Republikas normatīvajos aktos par vēlēšanu tiesību piešķiršanu no 16 gadu vecuma...” Es necitēšu tālāk; tur bija daudzi tādi argumenti - kāpēc. Tā bija tāda ļoti strukturēta, plaša diskusija, kurā jaunieši paši izvērtēja, vai šis priekšlikums būtu atbalstāms vai ne, jo ir virkne jautājumu, kāpēc ir izraudzīts tieši šāds vecuma slieksnis - 16 gadi. Viens no galvenajiem argumentiem ir tas, ka kriminālatbildība iestājas no 14 gadiem un tāpēc vajadzētu samazināt slieksni uz 14 gadiem. Ir jautājums par to, vai nav jāgroza Satversme. Arī par to jautājumu juristi vēl šobrīd strīdas. Līdz ar to, es domāju, šis jautājums ir svaigs, relatīvi jauns. Luksemburgā nē, bet Šveicē un Austrijā, kur šie sliekšņi ir samazināti, nav pierādījies, ka tas veicina sabiedrības līdzdalību. Līdz ar to mans rosinājums būtu šo jautājumu ļoti pārdomāt un tiešām vēl ar jaunatnes organizācijām izdiskutēt, pirms mēs sniedzam konkrētus priekšlikumus Saeimā. Paldies.".
