Pirms nu jau vairākiem mēnešiem Latvijas Reģionu apvienības frakcijas deputāti iesniedza likumprojektu “Grozījumi likumā “Par svētku, atceres un atzīmējamām dienām””, kas paredzēja atzīt 7.novembri par Robežsargu dienu, bet 5.decembri – par Policijas darbinieku dienu. Anotācijā tika skaidrots šo dienu nozīmīgums abiem dienestiem, turklāt šādu profesionālo svētku atzīšanai nebūtu iespaida uz budžetu. Nekādu izdevumu, tikai un vienīgi ieguvumi! Divu svarīgu dienestu ļaudīm tiktu dota beidzot atzinība, kuru viņi jau sen ir pelnījuši. Taču nē! Nē! Sev par kaunu 12.Saeimas vairākuma partijas – VIENOTĪBAS, Zaļo un Zemnieku savienības un “tēvzemiešu” deputāti – nobalsoja “pret”. Tika balsots “pret”, jo Latvijas politiskajā kultūrā principa pēc balso pret visu, ko iesaka opozīcija. “Pret”, “pret”, “pret”, “pret” un vēlreiz “pret”!
