Un, manuprāt, kā pati svarīgākā jāmin Ojāra Kalniņa kunga pieminētā starpparlamentārā konference Eiropas Savienības kopējās ārlietu un drošības politikas jautājumos, kura prezidentūras ietvaros norisinājās pie mums, Latvijā, pagājušās nedēļas nogalē. Konferences norise Latvijā ir būtiska ar to, ka Latvijai ir iespēja paust mūsu viedokli un vēsturisko pieredzi un tikt sadzirdētiem, jo jāatzīst, ka ne visur Eiropā valda vienota izpratne par pašreizējo starptautiskās drošības situāciju un tās radītajiem apdraudējumiem. Šīs konferences galvenie akcenti, protams, tika likti uz Krievijas īstenoto militāro agresiju Ukrainā, uz islāma fundamentālistu militāro ekspansiju un uz dalībvalstu attiecībām ar Eiropas Savienības kaimiņvalstīm kopumā, īpašu uzmanību veltot Austrumu partnerības programmai. Konferences rezultātā tika pieņemti secinājumi, kas sastāv no vairāk nekā 40 rekomendācijām, kas tālāk jau tiks nodotas dažādām Eiropas Savienības institūcijām, kuras īsteno Eiropas Savienības kopējo ārlietu, drošības un aizsardzības politiku. Viena no šīs konferences būtiskākajām tēmām bija hibrīdkarš, kas ir cieši saistīts ar jauniem drošības izaicinājumiem, ar kuriem Eiropas Savienībai pašlaik nākas saskarties. Hibrīdkarš ir iznīcinājis robežas starp civilo un militāro jomu, līdz ar to Eiropas Savienības uzdevums ir no jauna mācīties to, kas ir bijis nepiedodami aizmirsts, – agrākās mācības pārnest uz pasauli, kurā dominē augstas tehnoloģijas un sociālie tīkli. Konferences ietvaros tika apspriesti veidi, kā Eiropas Savienībai drošības un aizsardzības jomā pilnveidot sadarbību ar NATO. Piedaloties vairāk nekā 300 Eiropas Savienības parlamentu un nacionālo parlamentu deputātiem, kā arī vairākiem ārlietu un drošības jomu ekspertiem, tika diskutēts par šiem drošības jautājumiem un nākamajiem soļiem, kas jāīsteno līdz Austrumu partnerības samitam, kurš maijā norisināsies Latvijā. Šādu konferenču saturs var būt saistošs ne tikai lēmumu pieņēmējiem un politiķiem, bet arī nevalstiskajām organizācijām, pētniecības institūtiem un pilsoniskai sabiedrībai kopumā. Runājot par Saeimas šīsdienas sēdi, jāteic, ka tās svarīgākais jautājums bija saistīts ar Centrālās vēlēšanu komisijas locekļu ievēlēšanu. Tā kā līdzšinējā Centrālās vēlēšanu komisijas darbība ir pierādījusi neapšaubāmu kompetenci, Nacionālā apvienība atkārtoti virzīja Ritvara Eglāja kandidatūru Centrālās vēlēšanu komisijas locekļa amatam, kā arī atbalstīja Arņa Cimdara kandidatūru CVK priekšsēdētāja amatam. Jaunās komisijas darba kārtībā tiks ietverti būtiski jautājumi:pirmkārt, strādāt pie jaunās likumu ierosināšanas kārtības tehniskās ieviešanas; otrkārt, nodrošināt vēlēšanu procesa elektronizāciju un, treškārt, nākamajās vēlēšanās, kas būs pašvaldību vēlēšanas 2017.gadā, panākt, ka iedzīvotāji varētu paziņot par sev tuvāko vēlēšanu iecirkni krietni īsāku laiku pirms vēlēšanām, nekā tas ir šobrīd. Tie būs ļoti būtiski vēlēšanu sistēmas uzlabojumi, tāpēc novēlam jaunajam CVK sastāvam ražīgu darbu un nodomu izdošanos. Vēl vēlos piebilst par kādu citu tuvojošos notikumu. Es atgādinu, ka pirmdien, 16.martā, pulksten 10.00 Jāņa baznīcā Rīgā notiks karavīru piemiņai veltīts dievkalpojums.
