Tas ir viens no sešiem parlamentārajiem pasākumiem, kuri ir saistīti ar Latvijas prezidentūru Eiropas Savienībā. Šajā pasākumā piedalījās vairāk nekā 300 Eiropas Savienības parlamentāriešu, kā arī ārpolitikas eksperti. Konferenci uzrunāja Eiropas Savienības viceprezidente un augstā pārstāve ārpolitikas un drošības politikas jautājumos Federika Mogerini un arī NATO ģenerālsekretāra vietnieks Aleksandrs Veršbovs. Latvija savas prezidentūras laikā ir izvirzījusi vairākas prioritātes ārpolitikā, un viena no tām ir veicināt Eiropas Savienības globālo lomu. Un tieši tajā ietvarā mēs esam uzsvēruši pirmām kārtām Austrumu partnerību... to, cik tas ir svarīgi, jo maijā notiks Austrumu partnerības samits. Bet vienlaikus arī uzsveram, ka ir tikpat svarīgi arī Eiropas dienvidu kaimiņi, Ziemeļāfrika, krīze, kas notiek Vidusjūras reģionā... Tātad Eiropai svarīgs jautājums ir gan krīze Austrumos, kur vēl joprojām notiek Krievijas agresija pret Ukrainu, gan arī krīze Dienvidos, kur izplatās terorisms un arī tādas grupas kā ISIS. Vēl viens ļoti svarīgs temats, ko Latvija ieviesa šajās diskusijās, ir par hibrīdkaru vai informācijas karu, kuru veic ne tikai Krievija, bet arī šī teroristu grupa Āfrikā un Vidusjūras reģionā... Kā jau zināms, Latvija ir liegusi priekšrocību šo jautājumu risināšanā, jo pirms gada Latvija izveidoja NATO Izcilības centru stratēģiskās komunikācijas jautājumos. Tas jau gadu darbojas. Un šogad, Latvijas prezidentūras laikā, pateicoties ārlietu ministra Rinkēviča iniciatīvām, arī Eiropas Savienība ir pieņēmusi lēmumu – un tas notika 29.janvārī Eiropas Savienības Ārlietu padomē –, ka arī Eiropas Savienība sāks strādāt pie stratēģiskās komunikācijas jautājumiem. Ir izveidota īpaša komanda, kas varētu šo propagandas karu... varētu atspēkot šo propagandu, kas vēl joprojām nāk gan no Krievijas, gan no teroristiem. Un beidzamais ir, ka... Ir ļoti interesanta lieta, ka Latvija ir pirmā Eiropas Savienības valsts, kas savas prezidentūras laikā ir uzsvērusi Centrālāziju kā vienu no ārpolitikas prioritātēm. Un man bija iespēja par šo tematu šajā pirmdienā runāt Somijā – vēl vienā Eiropas Savienības prezidentūras pasākumā, ko organizēja mūsu vēstniecība Helsinkos, Somijas parlamenta Ārlietu komisija, Latvijas Ārlietu ministrija un Latvijas Ārpolitikas institūts. Un šeit mēs atkal runājam par to... par Centrālāzijas nozīmi un par to, cik svarīgi ir tādi jautājumi kā drošība šajā reģionā, tranzīts, robežkontrole un izglītība. Un šeit gan Latvija, gan Somija ir ieņēmušas vadošo lomu. Un beidzot, runājot par ārpolitikas prioritātēm, jāteic, ka Centrālāzija ir īpaši svarīga Latvijai un visai pārējai Eiropai, jo tas ir ceļš uz Ķīnu. Un Ķīna vēl joprojām ir viena no Latvijas ārpolitikas prioritātēm. Mums arvien vairāk atveras Ķīnas tirgus. Pēdējā gadā eksports uz Ķīnu ir dubultojies, un tieši šajā brīdī mūsu Zemkopības ministrija gatavo vizīti uz Ķīnu, lai runātu par piensaimniecības produkcijas eksportu uz Ķīnu. Un līdz ar to tranzītceļi caur Centrālāziju uz Ķīnu ir ļoti svarīgi. Tā ka Latvijas prezidentūras laikā šī nedēļa ir bijusi ļoti nozīmīga tieši parlamentārā līmenī, un es uzskatu... Te nu es it īpaši gribu apsveikt visus tos Latvijas prezidentūras Eiropas Savienības Padomē sekretariāta darbiniekus un Saeimas darbiniekus, kuri noorganizēja šo pasākumu Ķīpsalā, jo es varu teikt, ka visi ārzemnieki, kā arī visi deputāti, kas piedalījās, to ļoti slavēja, ka tas gan saturiski ir izdevies ļoti labi, gan arī organizatoriski.
