Domāju, ka par lielu daļu no tiem izstāstīs nākamie runātāji, tāpēc stāstīšu tikai par pirmo darba kārtības punktu. Beidzot Saeima patiešām nobalsoja par ierosinājumu ieviest izmaiņas Latvijas Republikas Satversmē, kuras paredzēja, lai nākamais Valsts prezidents tiktu ievēlēts atklātā balsojumā. Atgādināšu, ka pirms nedēļas vairums Saeimas deputātu vispār nemaz neuzdrošinājās pret to nobalsot. Šodien pēc nelielām debatēm šis ierosinājums diemžēl tika noraidīts. Tas nozīmē, ka nākamo Valsts prezidentu visdrīzāk atkal izvēlēsies slēptās aizkulišu spēlītēs. Kā Latvijas Reģionu apvienības pārstāvis es šodien no tribīnes centos uzrunāt katru Latvijas Republikas 12.Saeimas deputātu, katru Latvijas tautas gribas paudēju, kas ir izpelnījies sabiedrības atbalstu un ir apņēmies pildīt savus pienākumus godprātīgi un pēc labākās apziņas. Katram deputātam ar savu rīcību jāvairo sabiedrības uzticēšanās Saeimai, un, manuprāt, šis grozījumu projekts tika ierosināts pirmām kārtām tieši tādēļ, lai vairotu sabiedrības uzticēšanos katram Saeimas deputātam, katram viņa pieņemtajam lēmumam un, protams, arī Saeimas ievēlētajam Valsts prezidentam. Latvijas Reģionu apvienība uzskata, ka Latvija ir pelnījusi tikpat labu – vai varbūt vēl labāku – prezidentu, kāds ir Lietuvā un Igaunijā. Mums visiem labi zināms, ka jau visas valsts amatpersonas, pilnīgi visas, izņemot Valsts prezidentu, tiek ievēlētas atklātā balsojumā, un, kā jau minēju, balsojums par Valsts prezidentu joprojām paliek vienīgais aizklātais balsojums Saeimā. Daudzu partiju pārstāvji mēģina aizbildināties, sakot, ka vairums partiju tā kā esot iestājušās par tautas vēlētu Valsts prezidentu, tāpēc par šo atklātā balsojuma priekšlikumu vairs nemaz neesot jēgas runāt. Atļaušos teikt, ka tie ir savstarpēji nesaistīti jautājumi, jo tautas vēlētu Valsts prezidentu Latvija ieraudzīs ne ātrāk kā 2019.gadā – un tikai tādā gadījumā, ja Saeima ar divām trešdaļām balsu atbalstīs šo ideju trijos lasījumos. Tāpēc šie konkrētie ierosinājumi bija saistībā ar 2015.gadā gaidāmo Valsts prezidenta ievēlēšanu, un Saeimas deputātiem nevajadzētu tēlot nezinīšus, it kā to nesaprastu. Un, kopumā ņemot, jāteic, ka es priecājos, ka pagājušajā nedēļā Saeima šo likumprojektu neatbalstīja, jo šodien atkal mēs varējām pie šī jautājuma atgriezties un sabiedrībā jau daudz vairāk informācijas tika apspriests un dažādi viedokļi tika izskanējuši. Un pēc šīs plašās diskusijas tomēr uzskatu, ka Saeimas deputātiem jāspēj būt godīgiem pret sevi un savu vēlētāju, nav jābaidās no tā, kā vēlētājs novērtēs katra deputāta patieso lēmumu. Un tie deputāti, kuri šodien neatbalstīja Saeimas... neatbalstīja šo iniciatīvu par atklātu Valsts prezidenta ievēlēšanu, ir tādējādi uzņēmušies atbildību par to, ka partiju slepenā tirgus rezultātā, iespējams, var tikt ievēlēts vājš Valsts prezidents. Aizklāta balsojuma gadījumā vēlētājs nevarēs uzzināt, kurš pie tā vainīgs, nevarēs pārliecināties, ka viņa pārstāvis nav atbalstījis viduvēju vai pat vāju Valsts prezidenta amata kandidātu. Un tad katram Saeimas deputātam, kas šodien neatbalstīja atklātu Valsts prezidenta ievēlēšanu, atkal būs jātaisnojas par šodienas balsojumu. Diemžēl tāda ir situācija. Paldies.".
