Savukārt iesniegtais likumprojekts, neskatoties uz atsevišķu tā autoru dedzīgajiem lojalitātes apliecinājumiem tautas vēlēta prezidenta idejai, paredz izteikt Satversmes 36.pantu šādā redakcijā: “Valsts prezidentu ievēlē, atklāti balsojot, ar ne mazāk kā 51 Saeimas locekļa balsu vairākumu.” Proti, likumprojekta autori pēkšņi aicina atstāt šo privilēģiju parlamenta rokās. Esam pārliecināti, ka diskusijas par Satversmes grozījumiem nevar kļūt par gadījumu, kad process ir pat nozīmīgāks par rezultātu. Ņemot vērā kaismīgās priekšvēlēšanu debates un dāsnos solījumus, 12.Saeimai tomēr ir jāatbild uz citu jautājumu: vai Latvijas prezidents būtu jāievēlē tautai? Esam pārliecināti, ka mūsu valsts iedzīvotājiem ir jābūt tiesībām patstāvīgi izvēlēties vispiemērotāko cilvēku, autoritāti, kas spēs efektīvi vadīt valsti. Neapmierinātība ar partijām aug augumā, un daudzi uzskata, ka vienīgā cerība ir būtiskas izmaiņas valsts pārvaldē. Tādēļ Latvijas Valsts prezidents ir jāievēlē tautai. Latvijas tauta nemaz nav nezinošāka par 100 tautas ievēlētajiem priekšstāvjiem, un tautai ir tiesības lemt, kas vadīs mūsu valsti. Tāpēc, mūsu skatījumā, ir absolūti nepareizi tagad atvērt diskusiju par to, vai Valsts prezidents jāievēlē, atklāti balsojot, Saeimā. Šī diskusija, pēc SASKAŅAS domām, varētu būt tik tiešām interesanta, bet pašlaik tā vienkārši ir nevietā. Aicinu neatbalstīt šo likumprojektu.".
