Lai ar 1.janvāri mēs varētu gadu uzsākt ar jaunu budžetu, lai būtu sakārtoti šie finansiālie jautājumi, lai ministri, kas ir tikko apstiprināti amatā, varētu arī tiešām budžetu sagatavot, Saeimai ir ļoti, ļoti spraigi jāstrādā. Un, manuprāt, deputātiem nevajadzētu kurnēt, ka ir jāstrādā ilgas stundas, jāstrādā vakaros. Tas ir mūsu darbs, un to mēs arī darām, un tas ir mūsu pienākums. Vakardien tātad budžets tika pieņemts. Valdība šobrīd ir stabila, un Laimdotas Straujumas vadītā valdība šo budžetu ir apstiprinājusi un arī saskaņojusi ar mūsu kolēģiem Eiropas Savienībā. Jo, protams, ir svarīgi, ka mēs kopīgi strādājam pie tā, lai tiešām tādā spraigā laikā, kad mēs redzam, kas notiek Krievijā, kad mēs redzam, kas notiek ar Ukrainas ekonomiku, mēs spētu šeit, Latvijā, nodrošināt stabilitāti. Līdz ar to no 1.janvāra šis budžets ir tiešām sabalansēts, un mēs esam atzinīgus vārdus par šo budžetu dzirdējuši arī no Eiropas Komisijas. Vēl bez tam šajos divos mēnešos Saeima ir sākusi darbu pie jauniem likumprojektiem, taču esam pārņēmuši arī virkni likumprojektu, pie kuriem 11.Saeima darbu nepabeidza. Tas, ka darbs pie likumprojekta ir iesākts vienā Saeimā, nozīmē, ka jaunajai Saeimai ir īpaši jālemj par tā pārņemšanu. To mēs arī šodien darījām, lai iesāktie darbi vienkārši nepazustu un tiktu turpināti. Tāpat mēs šodien daudz runājām par Valsts prezidenta ievēlēšanu, jo nākamais gads iezīmēsies ar to, ka ir jāvēlē Valsts prezidents. Šobrīd Satversme noteic, ka Valsts prezidentu ievēlē Saeima un ka tas ir aizklāts, tātad slepens, balsojums. Frakcija VIENOTĪBA vairākkārt ir uzsvērusi, ka šādam balsojumam būtu jābūt atklātam. Šodien mēs pavisam nedaudz par to sākām debatēt, un nākamās Saeimas darba kārtībā jau būs likumprojekts par atklātu Valsts prezidenta ievēlēšanu. Tāpat mēs šodien runājām par to, vai Valsts prezidentu būtu jāvēlē tautai, un bija debates par to, vai parlamentārā valstī Valsts prezidentam būtu jābūt plašākām pilnvarām vai šaurākām pilnvarām. Diemžēl tie iesniegtie priekšlikumi bija tikai par ievēlēšanas kārtības maiņu. Ievēlē tauta, bet nekas tajās prezidenta pilnvarās nemainās. Un, mūsuprāt, ne jau tā ievēlēšanas kārtība ir tā noteicošā. Noteicošais tomēr ir Valsts prezidenta pilnvaru apjoms.
