Vispirms gribu uzsvērt, ka Latvijas Reģionu apvienības frakcija atbalsta pēc iespējas ātrāku Latvijas Okupācijas muzeja veiksmīgai darbībai nepieciešamās infrastruktūras sakārtošanu. Likuma nosaukums pietiekami precīzi norāda, ka tas attiecas uz Latvijas Okupācijas muzeju, taču jau pašā likumā ir iestrādāts plašāks termins, proti, “padomju okupācijas upuru piemiņas memoriāla komplekss”, kurš savukārt sastāv no divām daļām - jau minētā Okupācijas muzeja, tajā skaitā paredzētās jaunās piebūves, un Padomju okupācijas upuru piemiņas memoriāla. Tas viss kopā, kā jau teicu, ir šis memoriāla komplekss. Ja par kompleksa pirmo daļu ir pietiekami daudz šķēpu lauzts, ir diskutēts par jaunās muzeja piebūves lietderību, krāsu, novietojumu un citiem aspektiem, galarezultātā radot cerību, ka muzeja ēkas un piebūves izveide varētu vainagoties ar samērā izsvērtu beigu risinājumu, tad par kompleksa otro daļu - par Padomju okupācijas upuru piemiņas memoriālu - man personīgi joprojām paliek pārāk daudz neatbildētu jautājumu. Pirmie konkursi par šī memoriāla izskatu (tikai par izskatu!) tika rīkoti vēl ministres Demakovas laikā. Toreizējās idejas skice paredz izveidot sarkanu sienu ar izrakstīta kabatlakatiņa imitāciju, kā arī automašīnu stāvvietu pazemē. Sākotnējā ideja jau esot mainījusies, transformējusies, taču joprojām neviens tā īsti nevar pateikt, kāds tas memoriāls izskatīsies un kāda būs tā īstenā funkcija, tā teikt, pievienotā vērtība. Protams, arī izmaksas, kas būs nepieciešamas šī memoriāla izveidei, nav nekur atrodamas. Viena no summām, ko minēja kultūras ministre, pārsniedza vairākus miljonus eiro. Dāmas un kungi! Kā jau sākumā teicu, savā un visas Latvijas Reģionu apvienības frakcijas vārdā aicinu atbalstīt Latvijas Okupācijas muzeja ēkas pārbūvi, tajā skaitā jaunās piebūves izveidi, un iespējami ātrāku muzeja pilnvērtīgas darbības atsākšanu. Tieši tāpēc aicinu vismaz pagaidām atlikt tam klāt pieliktā memoriāla būvniecību. Okupācijas muzeja pārstāvji ir apliecinājuši, ka viņu veiksmīga darbība ir pilnībā iespējama arī bez papildu memoriāla izbūves. Citiem vārdiem sakot, aicinu izvairīties no jauniem kompleksiem.
